Respiratory
Mullein is a respiratory herb that grows naturally in many pastures and open areas. There is some growing outside of Wildfire's shelter which I have collected and used for myself as well as Wildfire. Mullein is a well rounded invaluable respiratory treatment for seasonal allergies, chronic coughs, as it soothes the lungs and helps to expel mucus. Bee Pollen aids the body in recovering from exercise, returning breathing and heart rate to normal, and improves endurance for repeat exertion. The Sesame Seeds provide Nitric Oxide (NO). Its function is to increase oxygen and blood flow by dilating blood vessels. It benefits athletic horses such as racehorses and older horses. Bromelain is a proteolytic enzyme ( breaks down protein) from the stems of pineapples. Bromelain has been traditionally used as an anti-inflammatory and anti-swelling agent, and is also known to be an expectorant. Jiaogulan is known for supporting circulation, respiratory health, and muscle function. Jiaogulan has medicinal properties and has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for centuries to promote vitality and research has shown it has similar beneficial effect in horses. The leaves of the Jiaogulan plant contains active ingredients like Sesame Seed, which increase nitric oxide levels in the blood and stimulates blood flow. By enhancing circulation, Jiaogulan can promote respiratory function through increased blood flow and bronchodilation. Combining jiaogulan with spirulina has been shown to improve respiratory function and exercise performance in equine athletes. Spirulina provides energy and increases endurance supporting respiratory function and vasodilation (blood flow) which can improve exercise performance. It can also be used as a natural alternative to corticosteroids. Yarrow was used by the Greek to treat pneumonia, common cold, cough, and other respiratory disorders. It has also been used by Native American tribes to reduce symptoms of colds and fevers.
